The aim of Kyogle Youth Ventures (KYV) is to provide young people with positive role models, a strong sense of community and a broader support network. The expectation is that this gives a stronger sense of belonging, so young people do not take inappropriate risks. This is achieved through a program of guided risk-taking adventures led by mentors and community leaders.
Benefits of KYV include reports of improved behaviour from parents and schools, greater confidence and self-esteem in participants, enhanced links with the local Aboriginal community and support of Aboriginal youth and young people, and an improved, positive perception of our youth by older sectors of the community.
As Kyogle Youth Ventures is a not-for-profit program, our continuation relies heavily on support and funding from the community.
